Authors of great Speculative Fiction wanted!
- Submit Your Manuscript
- Have Viewers Review and Rate It
- Post It for Trial and Sale
As an author, you may have had the unpleasant experience of writing a great story, sending it out to critical readers, who register their enjoyment by wanting more, only to send it to editors and/or literary agents who simply say, "I'm not sufficiently excited by the project." Many times that comment is prompted by the editor's or marketing person's belief that the style of the manuscript, or the way the subject of the story is treated, is not what will sell. And how do they know that? They think they know that because it doesn't fit their current formula—which in many cases was established by accident.
Your book may be too long, or maybe it's too short, or the writing isn't deemed
sufficiently dramatic, or there's not enough violence, or it's not hip enough, or... Well, you get the picture.
Speculative Fiction Review essentially cuts out the middleman, giving you the opportunity to engage readers directly, letting them decide for themselves if they like your stuff enough to buy it.
What we're Not Looking For:
We're NOT looking for Fantasy or Juvenile
Fiction. Sorry, our capacity is limited, and our first inclination is to popularize those things we love the most.
What we Are Looking For:
We're looking for superior speculative fiction: Science Fiction, Thrillers, Mysteries, Adventures, and Current Events Fiction. We're looking for well-researched manuscripts written in clear, engaging prose that takes us into stories and situations that the author feels passionate about. We invite professionals, who may not have writing credentials, but do have credentials or
relevant experience in the subject matter of the story. We also invite
professional writers (those who have been published, or won contests, or who have written and sold short stories) to submit manuscripts that publishers or literary agents find problematic, but you feel strongly about. We're looking for accurate depictions of exciting facets of the world, or the universe at large, that give us a memorable insight into human nature. We don't mind if topical subjects are elements of a story. We encourage realism or content that leaves readers feeling like they've gained insight into a particular aspect of the real world. In fact, we believe that many readers enjoy a
fascinating journey into a world that only a knowledgeable author can give them. We don't believe in
dumbing things down. We leave it to you to engage your real audience—the reader at large! Check out our submission guidelines.
