E-Ink E-Book Reader

A new Electronic Paper e-book Reader made by Sony is now available for $260. The new E Ink technology is a paper-like screen which can be seen in sunlight at any angle and looks just like paper. The reader has the physical form-factor of a book and consumes almost no power--a battery may last months with minimal charging. The reader holds thousands of books and can be loaded via memory sticks. Adobe format is part of the system. Here is a quote from a Sony insider: "With rivals in the wings, Sony has a huge incentive to make its reader work with as many formats as possible. That's always a stretch for this famously proprietary company, but Sony seems to be getting religion this time around. Users will be able to load any PDF file onto the reader, according to a person familiar with the device, as well as files with a special Sony e-book format. That means you'll be able to read everything from magazine articles to analyst reports to out-of-copyright books."

Speculative Fiction Review invites you to read the first few chapters of any of our books for free! Dip in and see what you think, and if you’re inclined, write some reviews. We want your input. In fact, we rely on it. Speculative Fiction Review wants enthusiastic readers to sample, review, and rate our books. We let you, the reader, decide what's good and what's not.

We have a mix of paperback books and ebooks. We make our ebooks available for $5.00 USD. Readers select a password for their ebook so that it can not be distributed without their permission. Ebooks are printable and portable, there is No DRM. It's your book—you paid for it, and you can read it on any computer that supports Adobe Reader (which is almost any computer running any operating system). You can also print your book, if you like, and read it wherever you want.

When buying our books, readers can use PayPal or a credit card. If you want to to know more about PayPal, click here.

When Adobe Reader is configured in double pane mode (click the double icon at the bottom right), you can flip eBook pages by using the blue arrows at the bottom of the Reader. This makes reading ebooks on a laptop as convenient as paper.

Classic Speculative Fiction Books In Print

As well as our own books, we sell books in print by other publishers under what we call Pete’s Picks. We select various titles under general speculative fiction: science fiction, mystery/suspense, thrillers, and topical fiction on an ongoing basis. Every week we will list more books that we consider excellent. Readers who come to Speculative Fiction Review can purchase paperback print versions of the books we carry and can write reviews and discuss them with other readers on the Forum.

We also have a section of the Forum open to suggestions for new books to carry. Readers can come to the Forum and talk about their favorite books. After writing a brief review of books they consider the very best in speculative fiction, as we’ve defined it above, SFR will consider listing them for sale so that other readers can enjoy them too.
